BlueActionAA and its funding opportunities to be presented at Arctic Frontiers 2026

Project Description

Sebastian Kopf from NIVA – The Norwegian Institute for Water Research, a key partner in the BlueActionAA consortium, will present two important talks at Arctic Frontiers 2026, one of the premier forums for Arctic policy, research, and collaboration. The event, taking place in Tromsø from February 2-5, brings together policymakers, researchers, municipalities, and private sector stakeholders from across Horizon Europe-applicable Arctic countries.

On February 2, Kopf will participate in the session “High Tide for Arctic Preparedness – Part 1” with his talk titled “If All is Security, Nothing is Secure: From Total Preparedness to Resilience-Building in the Arctic.” This session will focus on climate security and the critical role of healthy oceans and water systems in building resilient societies.
The presentation creates a natural connection to the EU Mission Ocean and Waters, highlighting BlueActionAA as a concrete funding mechanism to support actions that promote ocean and water health. This alignment provides organizations and researchers with tangible opportunities to secure funding for impactful projects that address Arctic challenges.

On February 4, Kopf will take part in the session “Maritime Extremes: Communication, Uncertainty, and Emerging Technologies Part 1” with his presentation “The Arctic We See is the Arctic We Fund: Disinformation and Policy at Maritime Extremes.” This talk will explore how information and disinformation shape Arctic policy and funding decisions, directly presenting BlueActionAA as a concrete funding solution for evidence-based action. By examining the relationship between perception, policy, and funding in extreme maritime environments, this session addresses a critical challenge facing Arctic stakeholders: ensuring that funding reaches the right initiatives based on accurate information and sound science.

Arctic Frontiers has established itself as the key meeting place for Arctic collaboration, bringing together diverse stakeholders from research, policy, business, and civil society. The conference provides an ideal platform for BlueActionAA to engage with potential applicants and partners, building awareness of funding opportunities and fostering connections that can lead to impactful projects addressing Arctic challenges.
