BlueActionAA – Empowering Community-Led
Action in the Atlantic & Arctic

BlueActionAA puts local communities at the heart of restoring our ocean and waters. Across the Atlantic and Arctic regions, we support people and communities to take ambitious action to protect and revive marine and freshwater ecosystems, contributing directly to the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.”

 

BlueActionAA helps communities move from ideas to implementation, scaling solutions that cut pollution, boost biodiversity, and drive a fair, carbon-neutral blue economy.

In particular,  BlueActionAA aims to:

    MISSION

    Provide demonstrable, measurable progress towards the Mission’s objectives through well-managed, community-led actions

  • 2

    Support

    Support for EU member states and stakeholders in implementing marine and freshwater ecosystem related legislation

  • 3

    Reach

    Reach increased engagement and resource mobilization from communities to restore oceans, seas, and waters.

  • 4

    solutions

    Enhance readiness at the local level to deploy innovative restoration solutions.

Through BlueActionAA, communities can access:

Cascading grant funding

COMMUNITY-LED PILOT ACTION FUNDING

Awarding at least 5 grants ranging from EUR 200,000 to EUR 2 million each to innovative projects addressing local ecological & socio-economic challenges;

 

Funded projects will contribute to advanced knowledge of marine & freshwater ecosystems and interactions (mountains to seas perspective);

 

Potential solutions will: protect & restore marine & freshwater ecosystems & biodiversity; prevent & eliminate pollution of our oceans, seas and waters; ensure a carbon-neutral & circular blue economy.

Cascading Grant Funding

TRANSITION AGENDA FUNDING

Funding at least 20 strategic roadmaps, each up to EUR 100,000, to guide communities in achieving the Mission’s objectives and ensuring long-term sustainability.

 

Funded projects will contribute to the transition from the first phase of the Mission Implementation plan ‘development and piloting’ to the second phase ‘deployment and upscaling’.

Successful applicant will be supported

TARGETED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE & CAPACITY BUILDING SERVICES PROVIDED BY BLUEACTIONAA

Grantess will be provided with tailored support (business plan development, impact assessments, & capacity-building programs)

 

Tailored support will enhance local stakeholders’ ability to implement and scale innovative solutions.

 

This assistance will be provided to both community-led pilots projects and transition agenda projects
