BlueActionAA participates in “Healthy Oceans and Waters by 2030” Conference in Norway

Project Description

On December 3-4, the “Healthy Oceans and Waters by 2030” conference was hosted in Trondheim, Norway, an event that aimed to promote community-led opportunities for ocean restoration and engage with stakeholders from across the European research and innovation community.

The two-day conference, organized to spread and share knowledge and solutions from European projects within the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030” and other relevant Horizon Europe initiatives, explored how these solutions can be applied in Norway by businesses, local authorities, and national stakeholders.

BlueActionAA was represented in the exhibition area with a promotional poster showcasing the project’s objectives and opportunities. NIVA and SINTEF, consortium members of BlueActionAA, promoted the recently launched Community-Led cascade call and engaged with potential applicants, including successful candidates who have already submitted proposals.

The conference featured a presentation on “Mission Ocean and Waters: State of Play and Next Steps” by Jacques Delsalle, representative from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), providing participants with updates on the Mission’s progress and future directions.

BlueActionAA’s participation in Trondheim reinforces the project’s commitment to engaging communities across the Atlantic and Arctic regions, including Nordic countries, in collaborative action for ecosystem restoration. By connecting with Norwegian stakeholders and successful applicants, the project demonstrates its dedication to supporting community-led initiatives that advance the EU Mission’s objectives through cascade funding, technical assistance, and mentoring.

The “Healthy Oceans and Waters by 2030” conference provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and showcasing how European ocean restoration projects can deliver practical solutions and long-term impact at local, national, and regional levels.
