BlueActionAA at One Ocean Week 2026

Project Description

Last week, BlueActionAA attended the One Ocean Week 2026 (18–20 April, Bergen, Norway), represented by Dorothy Dankel from partner institution SINTEF Ocean, who presented at the CRISPR-at-Sea event.

During her intervention, she underscored the importance of putting science and stakeholder networks to work, positioning community-led action as a key driver of a thriving Blue Economy. She also highlighted the opportunity that CRISPR and gene-editing technologies hold for the marine sector, stressing the urgent need for a European Roadmap to guide their responsible development.

She further encouraged colleagues and stakeholders across the network to seize the opportunity presented by the Transition Agenda open call (BAAT-01), currently open for applications.

One Ocean Week 2026, overseen by HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, brought together more than 200 events across the city of Bergen, underscoring Bergen’s role as a hub for ocean science, policy, and innovation.
