About the project
Pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change threaten Europe’s marine ecosystems, particularly in the sensitive Baltic and North Sea regions. While early-stage solutions have been tested, scaling them up is challenging. With this in mind, the EU-funded BlueActionBANOS (BAB) project will support the EU’s Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030 mission. Specifically, it will empower local and regional communities to roll out proven innovations more broadly. The project offers targeted funding, technical guidance, and knowledge-sharing to help actors (from municipalities to marine stakeholders) take effective, climate-friendly action. By doing so, BAB supports the shift to a cleaner, more resilient blue economy in line with the European Green Deal.

About the project
The Danube River, a key factor in the water quality of the Black Sea, transports pollutants from agriculture, urban areas, and industries, leading to significant biodiversity loss in both regions. The EU-funded SoS2LearnDBS project will promote community-led restoration of the Danube River Basin and the Black Sea, employing a comprehensive approach. The project aims to enhance water literacy and community engagement through learning and capacity-building programmes, empowering local stakeholders to implement innovative solutions across various areas. Participating communities will benefit from cascading funding and technical assistance, focusing on practical skills and social innovation for sustainable restoration efforts. The project will also establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and gather feedback.

About the project
Europe’s Mediterranean waters face environmental pressures that threaten marine biodiversity and ecosystem health. This makes it crucial to develop effective solutions and policies to restore these seas by 2030. The EU-funded TASC-RestoreMed project supports this goal by funding initiatives that enhance marine and freshwater restoration technologies and develop local and regional roadmaps. These guide implementation and legislative changes. By attracting strong partnerships and providing technical support on policy, funding, and business planning, TASC-RestoreMed encourages collaboration through digital tools and networking. Its overall aim is to achieve significant progress in restoring healthy seas and waters by the end of the decade.
