This thematic webinar presents the Community-Led Pilot Action Open Call (BAAC-01) on Freshwater Restoration, within the project BlueActionAA and contributing to the objectives of the Mission Ocean. The event targets local authorities, community groups, practitioners, and other stakeholders interested in restoring rivers, lakes, wetlands, and connected freshwater systems through inclusive, community-driven approaches.

The webinar will introduce the open call, its role within the Misiion Ocean, alongside a thematic overview of freshwater restoration. A dedicated use-case example will provide practical insights into real-world restoration initiatives, highlighting lessons learned and demonstrating how local knowledge and community engagement can drive effective and sustainable outcomes.

Participants will also learn about the technical assistance available to selected pilot actions. The session concludes with a Q&A and a presentation of next steps.

The project aims to award at least 5 grants ranging from EUR 200,000 to EUR 2 million each to innovative projects addressing local ecological & socio-economic challenges.

Ida Beathe Øverjordet
Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF Ocean

Ida Beathe Øverjordet (PhD) is a Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF Ocean and coordinator of the EU Mission Ocean project CLIMAREST, leading an international consortium developing solutions for marine and coastal ecosystem restoration. She has strong expertise in pollution and environmental impacts on marine ecosystems, including the fate and effects of chemical stressors, and has contributed to related national and international research projects, such as PHARMARINE that address chemical stressors and biological impacts in Arctic waters.

Anne Bødal
Research Scientist at SINTEF Ocean

Anne Bødal is a PhD candidate in Science and Technology Studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. Before starting her PhD, she worked for three years at SINTEF Ocean, a member of the European Marine Board, in the Department of Climate and Environment. In her doctoral research, Anne investigates the design of stakeholder engagement processes within marine and coastal environments. Her research is affiliated with two European Union-funded projects: CLIMAREST and TRANSEATION.
